The gokou cultivar is an unregistered cultivar that was specifically made to suit the soil and climate of Kyoto prefecture. This cultivar is very well-suited for shading and therefore makes a high quality gyokuro! With a distinct and unique aroma that reminds one of earth, Nagatani Tea's gyokuro gokou may be extra special as it comes from the birthplace of Japanese tea.
Yuya Nagatani, his father, and his grandfather operate a tea factory in the heart of Japan's historical tea production region, Ujitawara, Kyoto, for more than 120 year.
