The Simpurity Calcium Alginate Wound Dressing is a sterile, square-cut 2" x 2" pad designed for moderate to heavily exuding wounds. Made from calcium alginate fibers derived from seaweed, this dressing offers excellent wet tensile strength, allowing it to hold together during wear and removal instead of breaking apart in the wound bed.
As the dressing absorbs wound fluid, it transforms into a soft, cohesive gel that maintains a moist wound environment — a key factor in supporting the body's natural healing process. This gel-forming action also helps facilitate autolytic debridement, gently loosening and helping remove non-viable tissue without additional intervention.
Highly absorbent and conformable, this alginate dressing molds easily to the contours of the wound, whether flat or irregularly shaped. It can be easily removed or irrigated away from the wound site, minimizing trauma to fragile new tissue and reducing discomfort during dressing changes.
