Thyme, Thymus vulgaris, Essential Oil

 Thyme essential oil provides courage in times of stress. Thymol, a predominant property of thyme, is used commercially as a cleanser or disinfectant and in mouth rinses. Historically, it has been used diluted to help reduce bacteria in ancient cultures.

Avoid thyme if epileptic, hypertensive, or hyperthyroidism. Avoid during pregnancy and nursing. Children under 10 are best to avoid it as an essential oil. 

Thyme combines well with citrus, sage, eucalyptus and mints. It can be used as a high or middle note in a blend, only a drop or 2 in 1 ounce dilution. It is rarely used in aromatherapy blends.
